St Chad's - a "Greater Church"
St Chad's has been made a member of the Greater Churches Group. This group exists to provide support and advice to about 30 churches in England which have a cathedral-like structure, with only the resources of a parish church to support it. What these churches have in common is large grade 1 listed buildings, and significant numbers of visitors, employed staff, musical tradition and the requirement to hold diocesan, civic and other special Services. Becoming a member of this group is a considerable achievement for St Chad's and will benefit us in the sharing of good practice, especially as we prepare to launch a major campaign for the repair and development of our church in 2010.December 22nd 2009
Copy of Turin Shroud
March 2010 - an exhibition of a copy of the Turin Shroud with relevant artefacts and related events to take place in St Chad's Church, Shrewsbury. This is one of only six copies worldwide and is sure to attract considerable interest. Please make a note of the date: 3rd - 8th March 2010 and go to the Friends of St Chad's page for further information. We thank the Friends of St Chad's for arranging this event to raise much-needed funds for the St Chad’s Appeal for essential repairs to the Tower and internal improvements in the Church.November 28th 2009
